BANKS, Joan (Jo) Conde – Resident of San Francisco/Pacifica for 71 years, entered peacefully into rest at her daughter’s home, May 23, 2008, at age 76. Born in La Crosse, WI on August 5, 1931. Jo was practically a Pacifica icon at Sea Bowl bowling center where she worked the front desk for almost 35 years. She spoke proudly when recalling that she had helped generations of families, from kids to their kid's kids, discover the joys of the sport. She loved the people and the sense of family the center had. Jo served as a director for youth bowling programs, and subsequently senior bowlers, until she retired in 2000. In her retirement, Jo pursued personal interests and spent more time with her grandchildren, following her daughter and family to Arizona in 2005. She is survived by three children, Steven of Chantilly, VA; Michael (Nancy) of San Mateo, and Susan (Steven) of Queen Creek, AZ; five grandchildren; Jennifer and Heather Banks of Madison AL, and Elizabeth, Steven, and James Roberts of Queen Creek, AZ. In declining health her final two months, surrounded by her loving and grateful family, she succumbed to cancer. Jo will be missed by friends and family and celebrated for a life lived simply and lived honestly. At her request, no memorial service will be held; she will be cremated. Memorial donations may be sent to your local Hospice or the Neptune Society.
